2017 Kia Sportage is Getting Revamped

If you don’t like the all new updated 2017 Kia Sportage, you don’t deserve to drive anymore.  Just cut your license up and throw it away.  This one is a game changer.

The 2017 Kia Sportage is a bit bubblier on the outside than before, and it's got more interior room thanks to a chassis that's been stretched 1.2 inches longer than the previous model. Two powertrains will be available: a 2.4-liter four-cylinder with 181 horsepower and 175 pound-feet of torque, and a 2.0-liter turbo with impressive figures of 241 hp and 260 lb-ft. A six-speed automatic transmission is standard across the board. All-wheel drive will, of course, be optional, and Kia claims the new Sportage will be more fuel efficient than before.

Kia's latest infotainment system will make its debut inside the 2017 Sportage, and it will bring both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto on a seven- or eight-inch screen, though LX models will have a lesser five-inch display.

"Simply put, the Sportage is a breed apart in the compact CUV segment," said Orth Hedrick, vice president, product planning KMA. "Instead of bland utility, the Sportage combines distinctly European and sporty styling with thoughtful design and functionality, including innovative packaging, premium materials, a turbocharged engine and surprising features. Sales of compact CUVs are on a sharply upward trajectory, and the all-new 2017 Sportage hits the sweet spot by providing an alternative for those seeking to express themselves with a vehicle that's versatile enough to suit their unique lifestyle."

2016 Kia Sorento

The 2016 Kia Sorento is an all-star family-hauler with standout styling and a comfortable, feature-filled cabin.

For 2016, the Sorento is bigger, has a revised control layout and a new, optional turbocharged four-cylinder engine. Like its predecessor, the new Sorento is available with standard seating for five, and it can seat seven with an optional third row.   The SUV's new face is dramatic, with an upright, studded grille; available quad-LED fog lights; and sweeping LED-accented headlights. Sculpted body sides add some muscle to its profile.

Power from the new, optional turbocharged 2.0-liter is surprisingly robust.  Even loaded with adults, it never felt strained around town or on the highway. The 240-horsepower four-cylinder is EPA-rated at 20/27/23 mpg city/highway/combined with front-wheel drive, good for a vehicle this size.  Front-wheel drive is standard and all-wheel drive is optional on all Sorento models except the base L. All the engines team with a six-speed automatic transmission.  On the highway, the cabin is impressively hushed. Wind and road noise are well-checked.

Overall, passenger comfort is exceptional, with plenty of headroom and legroom in the two front rows. The Sorento really delivers in the features department, with plenty of optional creature comforts for both rows: heated and cooled front seats, a heated steering wheel, manual roll-up sunshades for the second-row windows, and plenty of first- and second-row connectivity options (USB port, auxiliary input jack, 115-volt outlet, 12-volt outlet).  The control layout is new this year, and audio and climate controls are grouped into separate planes. On top is the available UVO multimedia system's 8-inch touch-screen. The system's quick response time, large buttons and logical menu structure make short work of changing audio presets or inputting a navigation destination. Its swipe functionality has a natural, smartphone-like feel. I quickly and easily paired and connected my Android phone and launched Pandora internet radio. Two handy knobs separate the volume and station-tuning functions from the touch-screen. The climate controls are totally separate below the screen, and the large, clear buttons are ergonomically placed.

UVO also includes some interesting services, like a parking minder and My Car Zone. With the former, the vehicle's location is sent to your smartphone after you park. With the latter, parents can set curfew, location and speed limits for other (teen) drivers and get alerts if (when) those boundaries are breached.

2015 Kia Optima: Why Change What isn’t Broken?

Plot twist! No major changes are being made to the up and coming 2015 Kia Optima. The 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine with 192 horsepower and six speed automatic transmission and front-wheel drive worked flawlessly before, so there was no need for alterations in that field. We for-see the 2015 model to earn anywhere between 20 to 23 miles per gallon. Also, the SX Turbo model is powered by a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with 274 horsepower as opposed to the base model.

The new model comes equipped with standard features such as satellite radio, a six-speaker audio system, Bluetooth, a tilt and telescopic steering wheel and a six-way power-adjustable driver’s seat. Also being made available to your disposal is an eight-speaker audio system, a rearview camera, navigation, a leather wrapped steering wheel, leather seat trim, heated and ventilated front seats for those cold winter mornings or those hot summer afternoons, and push-to-start technology, a back-up warning system, blind spot detection and rear cross-traffic alert if you choose to upgrade. The midsize four door car is an affordable and attainable high quality vehicle that is definitely worth taking a look at!

Between the attainable safety features, excellent estimated gas mileage, rocking audio system, smooth steering and 192 base horsepower, it would be crazy not to come in and check out the new 2015 Kia Optima.

Kia Strikes Gold with the 2015 Kia Sedona

Kia must have a million people working on its design team.  It seems like every vehicle they release are the forerunners in the market segment they represent.  It is not uncommon to have a car company excel in one segment or another but to dominate every category is truly an amazing feat.  That is exactly what they have done with the 2015 Sedona.

The changes to the body alone would have them in the top of the minivan segment.  Like the Tiger Nose grille that dominates the front end and the back end looking very clean with the rectangular headlights. It showcases a few creases and a beltline that grabs your attention.

What about the inside you ask.  Be prepared to have your mind blown. With seven- or eight-passenger configurations, the Sedona will feature a number of seating and storage solutions, including available "First Class" second-row seats that recline and include retractable leg rests. The top-of-the-line SXL model comes with standard Nappa leather that Kia says is the same hide used for its flagship K900 sedan. Kia is fitting the Sedona with its latest technology, including new eservices like Geo-fencing (allows you to specify zones on a map and get an alert if the vehicle is driven there), Speed Alert, Curfew Alert, and Driving Score. This is one of the safest and smoothest rides you will ever experience in a minivan.

2014 Kia Soul, Updates That Impress

It is refreshing when a car company takes a very popular vehicle and made it even better.  They changed the fog light positions and gave it a backpack style tailgate.  It is a much cleaner shape and the lines are a little softer.

Other improvements include LED lights on most models and chrome door handles.  There is also a panoramic sunroof on higher-spec models.  More features added inside are a circular ripple design replacing the square touches combined with the soft touch instrument panel and the leather covered steering wheel and gearlever.  All of this makes the cabin much more attractive than the previous models.

This model is a little wider than the latest version giving you more room in the cabin and improved stability.  The wheelbase and overall length have also been extended giving passengers added legroom.  They have reinforced the insulation pad and expansion foam to reduce the road noise in the cabin.  Steering is regulated by Kia’s Flex Steer system, which allows the driver to choose between three steering setups to suit the conditions. At high speeds, the ‘Sport’ setting reduces assistance to allow greater stability and feel, while in ‘Comfort’ the steering becomes lighter for parking and low-speed maneuvering. ‘Normal’ mode provides a middle ground.

The new Soul is available in five trims, ranging from the basic ‘Start’ model to the range-topping ‘Maxx’. Standard equipment is generous, and incorporates DAB radio, Flex Steer, a tire pressure monitoring system, keyless entry, air conditioning and steering wheel-mounted controls.

Come to the fun side of the street and test drive the new 2014 Kia Soul today at Round Rock Kia 600 Jeffrey Way Round Rock, TX or give us a call at 512-617-5000 today!

The 2014 Kia Forte Is Just Right

The 2014 Kia Forte is right where it belongs as the midsize sedan.  It doesn’t try to be something it isn’t.  For some that come in and test drive, the Optima might be too big and not what you are looking for.  It might be too flashy.  The Soul might be too edgy or quirky for your taste.  Then you settle behind the wheel of the 2014 Kia Forte and you say, “Ahhh, just right.”

The redesigned body is the best looking yet.  It has far outdone its predecessor.  It resembles the Kia Optima just a little smaller.  It has a 2.0 liter 4 cylinder engine that has 173 horse power and gets around 28 mpg.  The car is redesigned with more LED lighting and power folding mirrors.  It also came with 16” alloy wheels.

The car also uses the UVO in car technology.  It has Bluetooth, navigation and XM.  The trunk was extra roomy and plenty of cargo space for a car in this mid-sized sedan class Boldride says “It’s like driving a cloud.”  .  This version of the Forte has lots to offer.  The inside is abundant with natural light with its large moon roof and wide windshield.  With ample interior space there is plenty of room for 5 with plenty of legroom in the back seat.

Come by and test drive all of the new Kia’s today and have your Goldilocks moment at Round Rock Kia 600 Jeffrey Way Round Rock, TX or give us a call at 512-617-5000 today!

2014 Kia Sorento Dazzles

The new 2014 Kia Sorento is a beautiful crossover with a great design, excellent fit and finish, and good driving dynamics in a segment that often has none of these things.  It has an answer for everything.  It is roomy, fuel-efficient and tech savvy.

Kia has emerged as a game changer in the midsized crossover market.  It has become the benchmark in this segment of the market place.  It has a beautiful and ergonomic interior and a great set of power options under the hood.  One of my favorite features is the panoramic sunroof that runs from the drivers head all the way back past the second row with just a small cross piece splitting it.  It is definitely one of those things you have to see and experience for yourself to realize the true beauty of it.

The connectivity is another great addition.  It has a very well designed driver’s space with easy access controls and one of the best things Kia has come up with, selectable steering modes.  It allows you to adjust the steering feel, on the fly, to suit your wishes – Sport for stiffer, more responsive steering; Normal for an everyday average feel; and Comfort for a relaxed, easy feel on the highway.  It also has electric assist so these selections are immediate and at your fingertips with a push of a button on the wheel.

Round Rock Texas plans to have the Car of the Future

It is no secret that technology continues to progress.  Our children navigate the world through new and innovative electronics.  Glasses are allowing us to view and communicate with each other, watches tell us more than the time of day, and cars are no different.  Round Rock is the home of Dell, a leader in innovative technology and will soon have the car of the future.

This year’s concept cars share the not-so-distant future new ideas, designs, technologies, and corporate intentions.
Most vehicles are projected to be powered by some form of gas-electric system.  By the year 2025 the corporate fuel-economy (CAFÉ) has set the standards for all vehicles to meet 54.5 mpg and at today’s gas prices reaching $4 a gallon, which is not a bad idea.  Thanks to technological, scientific and manufacturing advancements materials like carbon fiber, aluminum space frames and other super-lightweight alloy bits which are found in high-end luxury sport sedans are finding their way into more economical vehicles geared toward the everyday driver.  Heads-up displays which means the system overlays information directly on objects seen through your windshield is nothing new.  However, these displays are becoming fully interactive, customizable, and controllable with nothing but hand signals.  Mirrors are being replaced by cameras providing safety for the automotive consumer, and with all of these advancements the Kia Ray concept, a plug-in hybrid sedan concept built on the Forte platform and shown in Chicago, is quoted at 202 mpg.

In 2007 KIA Motors installed a design center
equipped with design and modeling studios including the KIA Design Center America in Irvine, California.  Through its efforts, KIA Motors has introduced a number of striking concept cars at various international motor shows and the results of the company’s efforts are beginning to show on the streets. The company has gone from a maker of affordable cars that had little to set them apart from vehicles to a company that produces cars that have been highly acclaimed pieces of art.

With an unprecedented 17 consecutive years of market share growth, Kia Motors is the fastest growing automotive brand in America. Thanks to advances in product quality, design and innovative marketing, Kia is also one of the fastest-growing car companies in the world.
KIA is already well known for its Optima, Sorento, Soul, Sportage, Forte, Rio, Sedona, and the most talked about mid-size sedan on the market, the Cadenza.

Now the K900 is about to hit showroom floors near you.  The KIA K900 packs exactly what you expect – tons of luxurious amenities, and an
optional VIP seating package with reclining, heated and cooled outboard rear seats. Standard leather surfaces are found throughout the cabin, and soft Nappa leather is available in black or white with contrasting stitching. On the technology front, V8 VIP models offer a 12.3-inch full-color TFT display in the instrument panel, with different themes depending on which drive mode is selected. In the center console, standard navigation and UVO telematics are viewed through a 9.2-inch HD screen that's controlled by a rotary knob and surrounding buttons. Of course, there's a mountain of active safety features, including front and rear park assist, rear cross traffic alert, blind spot detection, lane departure warning, adaptive cruise control and more. There's even an around view monitor.

The K900 is a handsome thing, looking sort of like a puffed-up version of the smaller Forte or Cadenza sedans. Up front, V8 models use adaptive LED headlamps (with a total of 16 bulbs), and more LED lighting can be found out back. Attractive 19-inch wheels are found at all four corners, wrapped in 245/45-series rubber up front and 275/40-series tires at the rear.

The performance, style, innovation of all KIA Models can be found at Round Rock KIA and non-commission sales associates can help put you in the right technological KIA that meets you and your family’s needs by calling 512.617.5000.  Round Rock KIA is located at 600 Jeffrey Way in Round Rock, Texas just outside of Austin.

2014 Kia Forte Dazzles

Critics are raving and saying that this is the most fun car to come from any Korean automaker.  The new and improved build of the outer body gives a sportier look for this four-door model. This coup trumps the sedan with its base 173-horsepower and 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine.  This coupled with the six-speed manual transmission makes this a fun yet sporty compliment to the Kia line of cars.

The new Kia Forte looks poised to go head to head with the Honda Civic Si.  Style has remained as a strong suit for the forte.  It shares many of the same curves with its sedan counterpart.  The rest is unique to the sportier models, including its slimmer, smaller tiger nose grille that evolves the look.

It has plenty of soft touch materials with more features than you would find in a loaded Mercedes-Benz E class from a decade ago.  It is expansive and comfortable.  The shifter, which has a small round handle that easily fits in the hand, corrects issues from the past.  Overall it has better than average materials and built above the quality normally seen in the past.

Standard features include Xenon headlights, LED tail lights, heated steering wheel, power folding mirrors and keyless entry with options such as power leather seats with heating and cooling elements.

The 2014 Kia Forte balances out luxury comfort and convenience with driver involvement and fun.  Like every newly designed Kia coming out this year, the improvements have been significant and welcomed.

Come see the improvements to this and the many Kia’s in inventory at Round Rock Kia 600 Jeffrey Way Round Rock, Texas or give us a call at 512-617-5000 today!

The 2014 KIA Rio Shines

Expert test drivers agree, the 2014 Kia Rio has plenty of power.  They say the ride is soft enough to not be jarring over rough roads, yet firm enough to feel composed going through turns. The steering is well-controlled in low-speed parking lot situations and on the highway. It has no problems with highway merging or passing, and the optional automatic transmission shifts smoothly. The four-cylinder engine is capable of getting a 29/37 mpg city/highway EPA fuel economy rating, which is good for the class.  This is a must in today’s fluctuating gas prices.

The roomy cabin also impressed reviewers. It offers plenty of leg space in the front and back seats, with plenty of comfort for day-long trips. The material is great, and like most Kia vehicles, the Rio comes with a ton of standard equipment, including Bluetooth and a USB port for hooking up your iPod or smartphone to the car’s stereo. There is also plenty of trunk space. Since its redesign last year, the Rio has become one of the best subcompact cars on the market today.

For the everyday driver, the Kia Rio is the perfect car due to the engine power, comfortable ride and extreme amount of cargo space.

For more information on the Kia Rio and other great vehicles stop by Round Rock KIA at 600 Jeffrey Way in Round Rock, Texas or give us a call at 512-617-5000 today!

KIA Green-Lights Rear Wheel Drive Sportscar

The concept was the talk of the Frankfurt Motor Show in 2011, boasting striking design and a rear-wheel drive layout.  It came with a concept V6 3.3-liter turbo engine delivering 395 horsepower sent to the rear axle with help from an 8-speed automatic transmission.  The KIA GT excites with just a glance and looks more like a jet plane and less like a car.

The great looking concept is being reported to have been green-lit for production and eventual showroom arrival in 2016, complete with its Rear-Wheel-Drive setup.

Before that, KIA plans to unveil some brand new concepts in January 2014 at the North American International Auto Show.  Plans to unveil a roadster concept and a GT version of the KIA Rio as well as a new 1.0-liter, 3-cylinder gasoline engine which will be available on the Kia Cee’d starting in 2015.

The design and engineer teams at KIA have been shaking up the automotive industry and the plans on the horizon look to be revolutionary.  Truly there is no better time to see what the meteoric-rising automaker has to offer than right now, and there’s no better place to do so than at Round Rock KIA at 600 Jeffrey Way in Round Rock, Texas today!
